EFEKTIFITAS ASEAN DALAM PENYELESAIAN KONFLIK THAILAND DAN KAMBOJA

Abstract

  This research is higlights the border dispute over the Preah Vihear temple between
Thailand and Cambodia. The relationship between two states has been strain since the armed
conflict in 2011 associated with the overlapping territorial dispute over area that surrounds Preah
Vihear temple. This research is to questioning ASEAN’s effectivity as a Southeast Asia regime to
approach and resolve this conflict. This thesis analyzed there are some problems related to
effectiveness ASEAN Regime in the settlement of the armed conflict between Cambodia and
Thailand concerning area that surrounds temple of Preah Vihear. The examination shows, that
ASEAN’s regime ineffectiveness affected by the limitation of three factors that bolster problem
solving capacity, namely institutional setting, distribution of power among actors involed, and
skill and energy available for coopeative solution.
